Building partnerships for relief and development

Event Guide

What is AIDF?

The Aid & International Development Forum (AIDF) is an annual event for humanitarian aid and development solutions.

Within a trade-show setting, AIDF comprises conference sessions looking at aid and development effectiveness in the delivery of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The intention is to move towards a global framework for aid effectiveness. There will also be a procurement network examining how business can best work with NGO, UN and government entities. Participants will discuss policy, the needs of the sectors, and exchange best practice at the same place that they can see, touch and experience products central to delivery.

Use the links on the Left hand menu for more information on the different elements of AIDF.

Workshop sessions

Workshop sessions are an integral part of the event, and include interactive round-table discussions and informative panel discussions. They engage high caliber stakeholders from NGO, UN, government and commercial sectors with exhibitors and the attendees. Sessions are specifically designed to improve coordination and cross-sector understanding resulting in increased efficiency in the way challenges are addressed, solutions are designed and are then distributed.

The 2011 sessions will be announced in February 2011. In the meantime, the agenda from the 2010 event can be viewed here. The sessions were framed around aid and development effectiveness in the achievement of the MDGs. Workshop reports are available by clickling on the workshop title, and speaker biographies are available by clicking on the names.

Experiential Zone

The Experiential Zone will once again feature AIDF exhibitors demonstrating their goods and services in a series of “real-life” scenarios, based on past crises. Companies, NGOs and government agencies work together to present possibilities for the scenarios from a safe distance, and consider the options available. This is an excellent opportunity to witness cross-sector collaboration in action.
